We were notified by the CDC earlier today that Evans, Tattnall, Bryan, and Liberty counties have been designated as a “high transmission” zone for the COVID-19 virus. Based on that status change, we are reinstating our masking policy for all employees and contractors (both vaccinated and unvaccinated), visitors and families at all EMH locations, to include the hospital, Surgical Associates and Jack Strickland Rehab Center. This policy is effective Thursday May 5, 2022.
· This change in policy does not impact our current visitation policy; however, all visitors are required to wear masks while in the building in all departments.
· In the event that our region transitions back to a “low spread” transmission zone or sees an decrease in cases by 50%, leadership will immediately revisit the required masking policy.
· Masking is required in the Tippins Café serving line for all visitors and employees; obviously masks can be removed while actively eating in the café.
We appreciate your continued commitment to adhering to our hospital standards and keeping both you and our community safe.
If you have any specific questions, please contact Kim Hughes at 912-547-0080.
We will continue to monitor this designation on a weekly basis and keep our community updated as the environment changes.
